Pawsitively Good Advice-
I use science-based, positive reinforcement (R+) methods. This means I focus on encouragement, rewards, and play to shape behavior — never fear, force, or punishment. My goal is to build calmness, confidence, and connection between you and your dog.

No. I believe in training with compassion and science-based methods that create lasting results without fear or discomfort. Nope — not forever! Treats are an important part of the learning process, especially in the beginning. When your dog is learning something new or practicing a skill in a distracting environment, we need to pay them well for their effort. After all, they’re working hard to figure out what we’re asking and to make good choices!
But here’s the good news: as your dog becomes more confident and fluent in those behaviours, you won’t need to reward them with treats every time. We can gradually shift to other types of rewards — like praise, play, or the opportunity to do something they love (like continuing their walk or going for a sniff). These are called real-life rewards, and they’re often just as motivating once a behaviour is well-established.
So think of treats as your dog’s learning salary — once they understand the job, they’ll be happy to “work” for other perks too!

If your dog shows a sudden change in behavior, the first step should always be a visit to your veterinarian.
Dogs can’t use words to tell us how they’re feeling, and increased irritability or aggression may be their way of signalling that they are in pain or experiencing an underlying health issue. It’s important to rule out medical causes before considering training or behavior modification, as addressing the root health concern may resolve the issue without additional intervention. -

Every dog learns at their own pace. With consistency and practice, many families notice improvements within the first few sessions — but lasting success comes from building skills over time.

I currently offer private sessions (in-person and online), as this allows me to tailor training directly to your dog and your family’s needs. But stay connected with me, as I plan to offer group classes in the future.

Ideally we will start in a quiet, space your dog is comfortable in with low distractions. We will need lots of small tasty treats your dog loves -
a variety of high value, pea sized treats works best (you can always break up larger treats) Make sure to have fresh water available to your dog throughout the session.
For specifics, I will let you know ahead of time what you need to bring, as it will depend on the training plan. -
I don’t offer guarantees, because dogs are individuals and there are many factors outside of our training sessions that influence success. Your dog’s environment, daily routines, consistency at home, and your own commitment to practicing skills all play an important role in progress.
My role is to guide, support, and provide you with science-based tools and strategies — but true success comes from our partnership and the work you put in with your dog every day. -
